So this time of year so many media outlets blast their readers with end of year lists, I read them with great interest to see if they match my tastes.  Its amazing to see people wrap up a year in 10 or less lines or blurbs.  Is that not the most interesting thing? To wrap up a full year in 10 items or less?  Its like the express lane of events and I don't know seriously if I can wrap one year up in 10 lines or less.  So much has happened, I have seen and experienced so much its hard to imagine putting it down all compressed like others seem to find so easily to do.

But... because I am not one to ever miss any opportunities to try something new here goes and in NO specific order.  I am limiting myself to 12 items one for each month, the highlights and maybe lowlights!

January 2008: my favorite post of the month, the WGA was striking and tv sucked so I watched alot of movies. I enjoyed the concept of finding old friends on MySpace (not really).  I also got poked.

February 2008: I paid off my car, and my favorite post of the month, Valentine made me laugh about potatoes. I found an episode of The Simpsons which was great. and it snowed.

March 2008: My favorite post of the month (the video edition!). I got to meet (sorta) Mick Jones (at least get my picture taken with him).  Toured some hotels.

April  2008: My favorite post of the month. Went manual. Bought a good camera.  Caught up with old friends.  Got over my "car thing".  Went to Loveland.

May 2008: My favorite post of the month. Made inappropriate comments about Elliot Spitzer and Levitra with my Dad.  Obcessed about Tom Waits tickets. I baked pecan pies.

June 2008:  My favorite post of the month. The Fluid reunited.  Started to edit video again. Traveled for pleasure and it was.  Had a great lunch with my bro at Il Postino.  Saw Tom Waits and loved every minute.

July 2008: My favorite post of the month. Bonus Video. Had a birthday.  Almost fainted. Traveled for pleasure and work.  Had mind erasers the "zoe way". Found graffiti nice.

August 2008: My favorite post of the month. Remembered how much Roscos rules.  Had a great time at shows. Got to go to some cool Democratic National Convention events. Found the Diane Arbus' at our DAM.

September 2008: My favorite post of the month. Hiked Red Rocks.  Ate at Frasca. Enjoyed shopping.  Loved Nick Cave.

October 2008: My favorite post of the month.  Had some fun at shows.  Got a really bad cold.  Enjoyed mirrors.

November 2008: My favorite post of the month. Made it past the day.  Voted. Didn't enjoy the  DIFF as much this year. Watched Democracy in action.

December 2008: My favorite post of the month.  Didn't feel the joy of the holiday season.  Made myself proud for being strong.  Played with my new camera.  Saw some great shows.

So there it is.

Got my haircut and was talked out of getting it all cut off, not long enough to donate yet even though I really wanted to. Glad I didn't do it now.  Thanks Stacy for talking me down.

this is a long one, but I have little else to do today...

So today I have largely been sitting here in my cubie listening to songs about the F Train and Worlds of Suck. Neither of which I can actually relate to but when Mike Doughty sings them they are quirkie and fun.  I don't care that he might not stray too far outside his comfort zone songwriting wise, but this music does make me pretty happy actually.  I loved Soul Coughing and was really bummed that I didn't get to see them on their last tour, but they were supposed to play with Morphine at the Paramount and when Mark Sandman died the tour collapsed understandibly.  And now that I think about it I don't think he has ever actually played in Denver, just Boulder. And now I would shlep up there, but not then apparantly.

I had a little freak out moment last night.  Like a big but good freak out.  Don't worry everything is totally fine Valentine, just me whiggin'.  I am going to have to say it put it out in the world.  I had a little moment of clarity and realized I have to.  I was halfway thinking that I wouldn't have to but I think its going to be on my shoulders to handle burden of putting it in the world. And I guess I am ok with it.

Just came back from a very frustrating 10 minutes in MicroCenter.  The dude they sicked on me to sell me a computer was worthless. Now I know, sometimes I can be difficult... nooooo really I know this... but I would have been the easiest customer all day, I went in there knowing what computer I wanted. The model number everything.  I just wanted to hold it and see if I was going to end up with a 20 pound sucker or it is less than what I have now.

Had it not been for the freakin' alarm system that is on the computers when you freakin' pick them up I honestly think I would have been out of there having paid for a computer.  But I lifted it up to see how heavy it was. It set this guy off and he thought I was trying to steal the demo I think.  He treated me dismissively like an idiot to boot.  My gawd its a laptop, you want to know how heavy it is right?  Well then there are no batteries in the thing either so of course it feels really light... so I inquired about whether they have the batteries to put in there so I can get a gauge of the weight and he said "no" we don't do that because batteries "don't weigh anything".  What? Really?  Huh...

So then the alarm goes off and the helper dude gets all up in my craw and says "ma'am you really need to be careful these are very delicate machines and are very sensitive to movement". Ok the alarm might be sensitive but certainly the notebooks/machines are not. Shut up.  I just put it back down. It is the alarm putz that is sensitive.

So I am looking at the schematics of the hard drive on the computer.  He asked what I was doing, and I said I just wanted to make sure the hard drive was 250GB because that is pretty substantial for the price I am looking at with the price tag.

The hard drive was partitioned which I can't say effects me one way or another, but I asked if the hard drive comes partitioned and he said "I don't know", so I said, "can you find someone that might know, I just don't want any surprises, even though I know it doesn't really matter that much, just the way it is set up on the demo they split it out to 111GB each and that is a loss of almost 30 GB which is substantial".  Then he says "no it isn't".  WHAT? I hate you and have to leave now. So lame.

Sweet baby jebus that is ridiculous I am thinking.

So I stood there with a blank look on my face thinking this guy can't be for real, he MUST be fucking with me.  So I smiled at him gave him a little jokie elbow rub and said "seriously now".  Then he said, and I kid you not, "are you going to want it or not".  Wowza.  I turned and walked out.  I want to cry for this 50ish nebbishie guy who has no sales skills whatsoever, because he was soooo clueless.  Maybe I will go back tomorrow, I don't know.  It just blew my little computer buying mind because I would have walked out with a computer just like a snap of the fingers, but he lost the sale by being a jerk.  And treating me like a dumb woman who doesn't know anything.

Listen here peanut... you lost the sale.  Big time.  I would have even thought about buying other peripherals which would have budded your sales but nope peanut... I hate you.  I kind of want to go in tomorrow all pretty woman like.  I am half tempted to go back in now.

But in really good news, I am taking F to dinner since he totally is hooking me up with the magic that is Dave Attell at Comedy Works tonite.  Super Pysched for the whole shibang.  Going to leave early so I can all gussied up like.

I am all sorts of WEPped up in this mo fo now....

So my network crashed. No biggie tried to fix it myself. No go. Had to call Belkin technical service. Seriously for a $39.99 router they really do come through with their free technical service, but only ONCE you get connected to someone that knows what they are doing and saying. I spoke to "Sammy" first. Bless his ever living heart but he didn't help me at all, so I asked if he could connect me to someone else. Now "Bobby" (his real name was SanJay I asked he didn't want to tell me...I said it's ok, I am happy to know his real name) was a magician.

I have WEP installed but my network wasn't working on WEP but WPA and was conflicted and too much network traffic (meaning my stinking neighbor... who has busted into my network before...) was downloading and jammed me up. So we changed all my configurations, he "Bobby"/SanJay showed me how to block outside surfers and showed me where to change my WEP key, when ever I need to again.

I heart this guy. Everything is working faster now. It is amazing. I feel like I have a brand new lease on surfing life now. Seriously this afternoon my internet was molasses because of it, stuff wouldn't load, it was awful. Now I know why.

Just went for a little walk with Herschel and my neighbor was on his patio with his laptop. I was really nice and said this: "I am sorry but you can't poach my connection anymore for your downloads, it really REALLY jacked me up man." He said- "oh I didn't know it was you"... yeah right. He said - "I was wondering what was going on with my movie".... so he was streaming shit off my connection. It explains ALOT.

Cleaning up my laptop (again...thanks Bro... I love it) and freeing up some space as well tonite. Doesn't hurt.

Met a new friend online from the Fluid show. He is going to use my pictures on his site, which amuses me NO END I have to admit because I think they blow. If I had known Friday night what I found on Saturday night they really would have been good. But still super nice.

I gave up trying to edit last night. Seriously, why did I NOT BOOKMARK the link to the software that I should have frikken bought a month ago?  I am a dork and made a huge mistake and I learned my lesson.  Now I book mark absolutely everything.  Anyways... so today I am trying to remember, but I am not really coming up with anything. Bummer.
Here are some links from the last couple of days just to keep you occupied while I am desperate to find what I am looking for:

Cooking with Rockstars - recipes and video clips (not exactly a companion but an online alternative to the following kitchen books featuring famous or well known people

Why you should be shooting RAW
- Just what I need... one more article telling me I shooting wrong, but it is interesting.  I still am going to shoot the way I want and probably going to order my new lenses for my birthday... amp this up a little bit. There is also a good PhotoJoJo/Lifehacker link for those of us that have Canon's on how to juice up the internal software and jazz up the camera.  Not that I have done it yet.  I might try first with my A85 and not jack with my S5.

The online Etymology Dictionary - I actually found this going through age ago links from a download I had from the Gillagans Island office days (way before a time) and it still is a live link and super interesting.

A link and youtube embedd of the Man Man video... it is hillarious.  Kind of like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride but with nekkid cartoon people.  And like they say... potentially not safe for work.  Dig deep in the site  because there are treasures to be found, this was just one that I have highlighted.

Waxy.org - seriously I don't know why I bookmarked this.  I mean I am a geek and all but I can't remember why for the life of me I did.  Good reading though.  There probably was a reason but I didn't identify it in my link notes, maybe it was this article?  Oopsie.  Maybe you can dig deeper and tell me.  I seriously do not remember.

I really want to see this movie.  Probably matinee or something Saturday.  I had an invite to the screening but because I used to have to promote them I have grown to not like going.  And because I am not on the promotions side of them anymore, standing in line and possibly not getting a seat isn't worth not paying so I would rather pay and know I have a decent choice of seat options.

I would like to eat here... but not because the food looks so good, but the people that own it are really cheeky with their interior design. And the stories behind it are brilliantly romantic and sweet.  Its a theme restaurant but not in the  Casa Bonita  way.  Not that there is anything wrong with Casa Bonita.

Missed Untitled.  I don't think I will go to the next one that doesn't seem like my deal but maybe in July. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for a theme.  It would have been nice to go to June's but I was doing something else, and for the life of me I can't remember what.... gosh all the days are starting to run together...

The Something Store: kind of like woot but you don't have a choice what you want for your measly ten bucks.  Kinda fun idea and all over the interblogs this week.

I also book marked a couple of links to other online stores, one for a band's merch that F thought about getting that will make a nice surprise something present if I find the urge, almost deleted it just now, which wouldn't be a bad thing because uh yeah hello I remember it NOW, still haven't come across the link to the video software I will have to go through and look through old searches I suppose.

And my cow werker hooked me up with some music yesterday that is kicking my bootay... say hello and meet The Black Keys.

I am freakin'....

So I was talking tonite to PoPo about the fact that the Magic 8 Ball is not a toy and I take it's prophecies deadly seriously, I did when I first bought it 12 years ago on a lark. That I believe in its truths and really seriously believe in it is not something I joke about at all. So she tests me. She says ask it something you think you know what the answer will be.

So I did. And it said... It is Definate or something like that... And I thought oh right sure I doubted it for a minute but realized that I believe in it and it's truths and we will just see. So wouldn't you know it... it was right. It was absolutely 100% right which freaked me out when it came true I have to admit. I really really thought holy crap, this is truely honestly NOT a toy and this just proves it right now, tonite. And I have the proof because for some reason it recorded....downloadable and everything, so there it is, me in all my potty mouth glory, which is really even crazier... all of a sudden I heard "this is now being recorded" WHAT? Really....? What button did I hit that this is recorded for all posterity now, I do not recall and weird too huh? Badass.

I am drinking a TaB to celebrate...

Ok so my friends rule. I just listened to a message that I left on my friends machine (it asked if I wanted to play it back...and I thought sure why not) and it was really amusing.

See I am really amused right now. In about five different shades of fushia.

See there is some history in this package that I got today from Sooz. She has had this book she had from the Dybbyk that she got at some point when the dybbyk and I were not together. He liked to leave things and loan things out. I know this book was a treasured possession of his because he talked about it alot. I don't know why Sooz has had it all this time. But... a couple of weeks ago we were talking about the author because of my upcoming trip to her husband's birthday party and she offered to send me the book for F because he likes the book. Now the book is autographed. I really thought the autograph was a fraud, but nope.

Its pretty good and authentic.

So the fact that I have the book now to give to F is heeelarious. And amazingly ironic. And honestly this is going to be the best thing that could happen. I have had this brilliant moment of clarity that this will finally put a nice end to all the fucking torment that that prick put me through all those years sleeping around on me. But it is funny that one of the girls he picked up on at the deadbeat right in front of me was Sooz and she is my bestest now, I didn't know her at all then... that came a couple years later.

So now I just have to come up with an appropriate time to give it to F and not seem like a big ole' goof. Maybe as a thank you for filling my IPod.

We were emailing about stuff today and wrote about LA and I have a hankering for Barney's Beanery... so I decided tonite to make chili... its all working on the counter now on a low simmer, tomorrow I will fix up the makin's and it will be glorious. Then I got this hankering to make cupcakes. Now I just talked to my Mom and got her magical frosting recipe. I just have to wait for the cupcakes to cool and I will have joy in the kitchen full on. It has just been this really nice evening. Trading emails, writing, catching up on a little tv (no docs though), went and ran a couple errands and it still isn't even 10.

My mouse died so I had to go and get a new one. This new one kinda hurts my hand a little bit, but it is alot smaller than the other one. This one though doesn't glow pretty colors which all together isn't a bad thing, because the one that stopped working was a bit girlie and odd. But it was a good night light.

Instead of listening to some co-werkers discuss whether or not our country is in a recession and the decreases in the fed rate I am laughing more than outloud to this, with my speakers turned up... not only is the band good, but the video is HYSTERICAL (thank you Pajiba... Auntie Pickles loves you...):

Please to enjoy.....

I spent today on a little vacation on my couch.

No worrying about errands, lists or even anything I should be doing. YIKES! I actually did it. So here it is 9:35 pm and I have gotten through my four foot high tall pile of magazines. I do not joke, it was huge. I didn't read a single article but pulled slip sheets out basically and are down to under probably 300 pages.

I also got my first Time Capsule from Photojojo. Now there are alot of things that I like about PhotoJoJo, not only do they send out the MOST amazing tricks, tips and motivations, but at the bottom of the time capsule... there is a block where you can add your very own message to your future self. I mean seriously that is so completely the most awesome thing ever. These are not my best pictures but certainly am digging the concept.

Here is some information about their methodology but all I know is that I have been a subscriber for quite a while to the weekly email, and even like to it in my blogroll over there ----> so you can check out its most excellentness on your very own.

I am slightly panicked about spending this money for this birthday party in June. I have to travel and literally I am going to just fly out for the day probably. The party is the weekend of Father's Day and if I am not back in Denver I anticipate a hail storm of guilt if I am not back. The airfare will be almost 400 bucks and the room will be 300... it is a lot of money to spend for a day tripto go bowling. I honestly am not quite sure today if I am willing to spend the money. I feel absolutely shittastic for even thinking it, but damnit I do. It's a lot of pita chips at Sunflower I have to admit. It's a mortgage payment and my utilities. It's like half a Louis Vuitton purse (not that I want one or would even buy one, just sayin').

So the snow is beginning to fall, just as predicted. As also as I would have predicted Herschel wants to go outside and play in it. Which I love because when he comes in I wrap him in a towel and dry him off and its seriously so f'n cute I kvell. Tomorrow it will be a day to bake I think. You know baking during snow... magic.

Randomizer...

Duh....of course Bukowski and the Beats are the most literary ripped off authors.
~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news, watched Dave Attell videos on YouTube almost most of the morning on Tuesday..... I feel dirty and need a shower and a shot of Jager.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Went for Rib Nite last night and in my haste to get out the door this morning forgot my "backup bag" of leftovers. And now I am suffering because I am really hungry. The cafeteria is closed so I am really in a bad spot. Time to break out the gorp from Trader Joes I suppose.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am fully considering the post work no technology pledge. Last night when I got home I got so much actually done not even trying to get online and catching up on my reader. This morning I just clicked "mark all as read" and started fresh, which didn't help matters because now the list is unmanageable again. I think it really might be time to clear out my blog roll and start completely over. Bookmark those whose blogs I really love and move on. I find that I go home once back from dinner and just get couched trying to catch up. It will probably be better for me if I don't get too caught up in catching up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My co-werker totally rocks my world today. Seriously she is the cat's meow. She has turned my frown upside down and rocked my world just by doing the magic that she does. I would go and hug her if we both weren't so germ-a-phobic and weren't cut from the same cloth of people entering into our personal space being annoying as hell. I passed her a note over the cubes though. There ain't no wall high enough for her to hide from my appreciation. She just completely saved me a mess of work. I could have handled it, but she is so practical and so smart.... I just heart her and the fact she dealt with an issue earlier too that was heinous and handled it like a champ.
~~~~~~~~~~
OK and here is something funny:
me: bitter baby bit...tter...!
my friend I am chatting with right now: i wonder what your kiss would taste like?
me: like coffee and cigarettes and cherry lip gloss
~~~~~~~~~
Periodic table of the Internet

~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can buy prints of Little People... lovely
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I love this commercial... and it is really timely since there is a new manufacturing plant for the turbines which opened in Windsor (not pun intended I am sure, but seriously... how fucking funny is that?) yesterday....

~~~~~~~~~
worked for three hours tonite but that means the hours I put in tonite will be appreciated tomorrow when I am able to get so much stuff done.
~~~~~~~~~
Do you think telling people you wanted to be a coroner is a turn off?
I think it freaked a certain someone out. His loss.

my monday morning....

I have been battling the frustrations that I find with my company's IT department and the fact that I can't do bupkes as far as browsers on my desktop.

So today, I decided that I am just going to break the code of silence and install firefox portable and stop internally whining. I know how to do it. I know that I can do it. I know that I don't have the administrative rights to this p.c. but I know how to get around it. So because I have nothing better to really do today, in fact I was supposed to have the day off, but half of our team is out today sick, my director called and asked me to come in... so here I sit. Installing firefox. Its so magically delicious I can't stand it. I am running it from my desk top and not even from a portable drive. Sneaky. Actually I should move it back to the flash drive, just so if IT does get a hankering to what I am doing this way I won't get in trouble. hold on a sec. OK moved it all back to the flash drive.

I really do love tabbed browsing, what can I say. I am super glad that I have found a way around the issue.

Maybe tonite I go about making some magic happen. I used to know the circuit but now not so much anymore. I suppose I will have to do a little investigating to try and find out. I am antsy. I think its because my entire department is now gone except me and it is entirely too quiet for me.

I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to explain to someone in my office why you should just spell out "less than or equal to" versus using the symbols anymore. See, in today's day and world we folks are used to seeing symbols as words or shorthand... in powerpoint it isn't always simpler to use a symbol sometimes it is in fact better to spell it out for your audience. Then the guy didn't even know what the symbol would be. And I said exactly the whole reason why you shouldn't use symbols. He didn't get it. It took up some time though and if I didn't get the heebie geebies by the guy's voice and the pure annoyance at the fact that he doesn't listen to what I am saying, I could have stood there and gone over and over the fact just for the the funny but I had to answer my phone. DANGIT.

Saw a picture of a person who I used to know really well-ish today (well just about 2 minutes ago). Kinda made me go to a place I didn't know that I was willing or able to go to. And it really had to do with this person's hands. I remember how nice I thought that they were and not knowing how recent this picture was or is I can't say much has changed. Pretty yummy actually. Clearly makes up for the lack of the yummy this weekend.

this last 1/2 hour of today is going to absolutely crawl like molasses.

Thursday, February 28, 2008

So I have had a grand central number since October (thank you Bro) and now you can too....(if you are a blogger users). I really love the service.

Check it out.

Anyways... Its 6:30 and I am about an hour from hunkering to sleep. I have to be out of the house as early as 5 am and as late as 5:30 tomorrow. Yikes. I am seriously very tempted to take a nap now, wake up around 3:00 am and just power through it.

I had seriously like the best day. One of the people that is participating in this program that my department is putting on bi-weekly came up and said the nicest things to me today. It was really a nice thing to be told by someone effected by my work that they appreciated what I am doing for them. I might not make a gabillion dollars, but seriously... that was worth it today. I am humbled. My boss made a really funny joke to me too which was really so hard to keep a straight face in the middle of this meeting. It was such a priceless few moments today.

Chinese Food on Christmas

Thanks Bro... You totally rock!

Oh man really? I am this much of a dork I did it AGAIN?

damnit damnit damnit... this is the second time I have done this... I have a list of fantastic great link fodder set up in a draft in my gmail and I accidentally hit discard and kapow... its gone. This blows. Hard.
Seriously.. Gmail programmers? I know you are working on a revamp of some of the technology built into the system, but how about making a confirmation like you do on the trash ok?
I have lost a serious amount of information because I deleted on purpose and email I had started to G but the good thing is... because I am a glass half full kind of gal, many of the links were shopping links, so I have saved some money potentially.
I should just clean up my links and then post them and that way they won't be lost forever. Huh. Concept. What a concept.

I wish you could hear this thunderstorm that is a crakin' right over my house right now, it's amazing. Its been the most tremendous thunder I have ever heard and nary a drop of rain. For about 20 minutes of it the sky right on the edge of the storm was bright blue but every time I went outside to take a picture there was this incredibly bright and scarey as all get out lightening so I ended up literally with a shot of my patio floor, my foot, part of my warm up pant leg and some foliage from a tree. I figured if I tried a fifth time to take a picture I would be seriously taught a lesson about standing outside in a lightening storm and came inside.

I have literally everything unplugged that could fry just incase. I mean it is THAT close. Herschel can't be bothered by this at all. He is just sitting on the pillows calm as can be.

What an angel.

Edited to add: Seriously, this is just one more reason why I love Steevoh. It just turned on to record a program. On his own, with out me having to remember to turn him on. People might kvetch about Comcast but seriously, I just happened to look over and see the recording light on. How nice is that? The storm is almost over and while I don't have much electric on still (because it is really quiet in my neighborhood and its like a little gift of silence and wind in the trees and crickets) Steevoh came through. Like a champ. Thank you Comcast. Thank you Bro who convinced me to sign up for Steevoh. It really is magic.

Andrew Zimmern-Bizzarre Foods, I am so hungry

I didn't go out to dinner tonite and sat on the couch for most of the evening. I have been watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern tonite. I can't say I am really disgusted as much as really transfixed by the fact this guy might have eaten squirrel. I mean he had it on his fork but we didn't see it go in his mouth. I know bugs and stuff are really considered delicacies in some cultures so that I am not bugged out by, but I am a little wigged by the concept of cajun style squirrel. Alligator? I have absolutely been there. Turducken not really all that unusual and had that. SOOOOO delicious. But I haven't ever seen it made so that was absolutely cool as hell. That restaurant they went to served stuffed tongue, I want to know what it was stuffed with because all I have ever had is corned beef style. And it is delicious, but the roasted version they served looked really tasty...roasted maybe? Chicken liver? This isn't so bizzare. Ok I am not into the head cheese, meat jello isn't my thing. And ham hocks... I haven't had that but holy all that is soul food and actually sounds delicious right now, with some super buttery grits? I just saw Bonnie Jackson put some on a plate and it almost made me fall off my couch it looked so good. And I would try her racoon... seriously. I think this guy sells the food, where Bourdain doesn't really so much sell it, but just eats it and gives you the tour. This guy actually explains it. Damnit I should have eaten dinner. I might have to go and get some grits tommorrow for breakfast/blunch. And the roadside guy saying "poo"... brilliant. I am loving this show. Fried pickles. But fried green tomatos with crawfish sauce... I am really hungry now.

Back to Zimmern... I would love to have this guy keynote at an event that we have annually. We are all about healthy food choices and eating well (oh and cultural diversity...), what this guy could bring to the table huh? I bet he is affordable too, in our budget. Maybe I can talk my boss into that next year. Ha... never happen.

His website is uber flash heavy but really cool looking. I have a new foodie crush I think. Not that Bourdain isn't fabulous, but, Zimmern's much more enthusiastic. Lets see how I feel after watching him eat maggots and cat in Vietnam.

I think I have to add this to the Steevoh list.

Thank you Shiny Shiny....

Link fodder for a monday... what I found in my reader you might enjoy-

There isn't much going on here (but good wishes to my Bro on his first kick ass day!) so I thought, I would share a little bit of what I highlighted in my reader, in case you don't plan on going over to the side bar over there --------->
and seeing what I am sharing...
This is another great great great marketing positioning by the Simpsons Movie...( link). I might have to run to Barnes & Noble on my lunch and see if they have August Harpers Bazaar in yet.
Did you know it snowed in Buenos Aires on July 9th (link: treehugger)? Crazy. As an aside, I have a friend from college that lives in Argentina, I should email him. Its been years so that might be really wierd... Hey there! How's it going? How was the snow? Remember Mr. Pine's Algebra class? Love, Zoe.... no better not.
Its all about recycling for alot of posts today: perhaps the Live Earth concerts have made a difference: Opt Out of Insurance and Credit Card Solicitations for five years online (via: EcoCycle which is really full of information), plastic bag recycling (via: Gaiam's community boards - which also has a great link to community based recycling, which I use at the condo complex next to mine, its awesome - via AT: Kitchen).

Fwd: Emergency for Internet Radio!

SAVE NET RADIO!
Please click and make one call today... just one.... call your Senator and let them know.... you might think it doesn't mean much but every call that comes into a Senator's office regarding an issue needs to be logged, so it DOES make a difference... call your rep! Make them responsible to their constituency. Make them responsible to you... make the call.

also here is a link to Wired's Coverage... there is a reprieve for Sunday's deadline, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't call.

Hi, it's Tim one more time...

Disaster looms! Yesterday a federal court denied a plea to delay the massive increase in rates webcasters must pay the record labels. This means that, absent immediate Congressional action, the new ruinous royalty rates will be going into effect on Monday threatening the future of all internet radio.

This is a very dire situation and I'm writing to ask one more time for your support. The effort you've made over the past four months has been extraordinary and has forced the rapid introduction of the bill, but the committee process has been sluggish and we need to once again remind the representatives of the urgency of this issue. This is perhaps the most important phone call you can make for us.

Please call your Congressional representatives in the Senate and ask them to force immediate action on the Internet Radio Equality Act and bring the bill to a vote. It is critical that their phones begin ringing off the hook starting early in the morning. If it's busy, please try again later.

Senator Ken Salazar: (202) 224-5852
Senator Wayne Allard:
(202) 224-5941

I'm sorry that we have to keep asking you for this - but it's our only recourse. We are no match for the legal and legislative strength of the RIAA and we need your help.

Thank you again.

Gratefully,
