I am thrilled, really. I joked that I didn't think it was possible that some twenty dollar novelty item from urban outfitters would actually work. I thought that the plastic would crack under the pressure of the freezing water. I thought there is no way this is going to work.
But as you can see, the ice sculpture swan it is a happenin'. You will notice that the tips of the wings are broken on the right side of the picture, but that comes totally from my exuberance taking it out of the mold, not any error on the mold's part.
The size is about a foot and a half, or a little more but not much, yet for a small table its perfection because you aren't stuck having to place a recepticle for the melting, that takes up too much room. And you (meaning me) could still make the ice for the vodka mix or whatever you (again, meaning me) have always wanted to make but couldn't motivate to do with ice in your (again, meaining me because I love the entire idea of ice with stuff) kitchen for a soiree'. Which also means that it fits nicely in the freezer so it would accomodate other items freezer for dreckoration. I didn't have to move all that much to make it fit, just a bunch of Halloween candy bars (mmmmm nutrageous) and some pastrami from the Carnegie Deli. No big whup.
Its actually a pretty neat little item for the twenty bones I paid for it. I really have to say, I thought I was going to be returning it for total failure to work. The hipster counter cashier dude is not going to see me walking in with that bag trying to return used merch even though he said I could, which was nice. Because normally I find the employees of the "UO" completely too hip for their britches and hate going in there except they have really cool junk for the cheap (maybe I should type "teh cheap", because I am trying to be all hip you know).
I might just have to plan a party. Perfection for New Years Eve...or a sophisticated Super Bowl Party...or a glad you are here for the night before you go on your trip to Spain party (trust me Bro I won't bring the ice swan!).
