Ok I think I might have to agree with Armchaircook: Food TV Addict... he/she (probably a she, but with blogs it is hard to tell now a days).... but yes... truely Yahoo Food! does do a better job than FoodTv.
But with full disclosure the only time I actually do watch it (FoodTV that is) is when I remember to watch on Saturday or Sunday mornings (or last night when I got to see the chef from Denver, Jennifer Jasinzki from Rioja pull out the beef stomach fat and wrap it around turkey sausage - I think- for her non traditional Turkey dinner on the Cookoff show), but now I can be a 12 year old and watch Teletunes (ok The Tube ... channel 243 people on Comcast Digital in Denver) again, why bother. Besides I just bought The Silver Spoon so I have pleanty of recipies thankyouverymuch and I have Nigella's book so I don't have to watch her show (and for the record I totally remember buying that book, at the Borders at Centennial Promenade before a rather bland date with a guy that I met on JDate at the Walnut, who said he was single but his wife called right as we finished our beer and were going to get seated for dinner... needless to say I didn't stay).
I am totally anticipating next week's Top Chef when Bourdain is a guest judge. What I can't understand is why he would do it. Sure it brings the show the ratings and sure people are already blogging about it, but after reading so much of his stuff and knowing his disdain for the medium, surely its all about the money. I mean really does he even chef anymore or is he just pandering to the media now. He ain't no Rocco Disparito (or what ever his name was/is) but its somewhat ookie that he is guest judging. Coliccio hires people from the show so that makes sence and belive me when I go to Vegas, you bet your bottom dollar I am goin' to craftsteak.
The girl stays home from eating out for one night and her tastebuds are given the reprieve from the bland crap I am exposed to during the week and I crave good food, no I take that back, good tastie delights that make me salivate. Its a tough situation I am in because I know it isn't going to last forever, I made promises on death beds and all, but seriously, like I said to L last night on the phone... it is getting old. And like I said to the Bro, sure walking into the East Side Kosher Deli and getting some rather good chicken soup is nice, its not the same as sweetbreads a Pappillion (may it rest in peace, dude you know those pancreas' were gooooood).
I look forward to the day I can make exciting gastronomical choices again.
Until then, SouperSalad and Village Inn it is. Blarf.
