mmmmm bread

Dare I add to the "No Knead Bread" fury, but seriously... the recipe... totally worth it. Mom made it last night and it was delicious. I actually am thinking that instead of buying a lighting fixture for my dining room (which I desperately want but am hedging on actually buying it because it is way expensivebut fabulous) I might just go and buy a nice dutch oven or french oven and be happier so every weekend and all weekend I can proof and back delicious crusty bread, I might have a really tacky light fixture above my head but I will be in a carbohydrate coma so who cares?

This link is the first one I found that had the recipe in it with the outcomes the chef/cook used. Apartment Therapy - the Kitchen (one of my favorite sites) also had their say. The bbs users at America's Test Kitchen / Cooks Illustrated have already as of right now accumulated 6 pages of comments and alterations. Meghan of Not Martha has posted her reactions (and some more links that I didn't see this afternoon while searching the recipe) and now I have to admit... I have to do this. I love baking. I love bread and I love baking bread, my oven is completely uneven and miserable unless I finesse the bejebus out of it, but honestly, this truely seems foolproof. I might though take the suggestions of some and use a smaller pot than the 5 1/2 quart dutch oven Mom used. I think I have a 4 quart already to be quite honest, I just have to go digging. If not, there is a Tuesday Morning, Ross, TJ Maxx and Target within a mile radius of my work so finding one won't be an issue, on the way home, but I can almost guarantee I have one, digging it out is the issue. It won't be Le Crueset but it will work just fine.

Also I have a gingerbread mix that Dad bought for me I need to work with also.

Since it is going to be snowing up the wazoo tommorrow, I am thinking if I start the bread recipie now, I can bake right when I come home and have a house full of warm bread smells all evening tommorrow. I have yeast, flour and water. I have a bowl. I have a towel. I have the excitement to give this a shot! I also thought last night how good that bread would be with chunks of cheese baked in. Hot out of the oven with cheese? Delicious and not entirely impossible. Thickly shaved parmesean? That is what I am thinking.

Glad you tried the bread recipe. I guess the dutch oven won out over the light fixture for now?

The light fixture could wait, I wasn't sure how long I was going to be willing to NOT bake the bread. Glad I made the right choice! Sometimes I don't.
