home, home, home and its good, good, good

Its official... I think... today ... I am thrilled to just be home, watching tv, reading the newspaper (why they keep delivering it to me is so stupid, I didn't renew, I have asked to cancel and they still deliver it. I am going on the record saying I don't want it and won't pay a back bill either Rocky Mountain News, so there), and enjoying the day with the windows open and the neighborhood relatively quiet.

Its really been a weekend full of family and lots of nuttieness. Some of it was really good and most of it was actually pretty great. Went to my cousin's bar mitzvah and half way through the really so very nice service my great uncle and his really messed up family showed up. He has gotten very mean with absolutely no filter from his brain to his mouth at all. Its both very sad and very scarey. His daughters, totally a mess. Its the tradegy of the family I have to say, and there isn't very much one can do about it, because they won't accept there is a problem or an issue.

I do have a question, when did Bar Mitzvah's become weekend events?
Another cousin and I were talking at the third party last night, she made a really good point... she didn't have this many activities when she got married. I suppose I need to watch Keeping Up with the Steins to get it all figured out. Oh and The Piv is in it. Twist my arm. But it was curious, too much activity. We did have a nice time though and honestly it was great to have everyone (well almost everyone, there were two people that really we would have loved to have had with us) together.

I didn't go hit any super sales at five a.m. this year. Looking through the paper nothing seemed worthwhile chasing and worth getting up that early for. I am though probably in a little bit going to go out and see about some gift ideas, but I might even wait until later tonite after dinner so that I am actively taking advantage of this "me time".

The images are from the worlds most predictible but great for an insomnia filled 3 a.m. movie fest... Just Like Heaven. No spoilers here, just know I had it pegged about 15 minutes in. I hate that. I like to have some mystery when watching movies, romantic comedy or not, but still, that one was way too easy. But what a doosie to see what was the funniest and saddest moments of a couple of summers ago (the words not the situation) played out on screen. Ah what a small world. I have to say some of the covers on the soundtrack are terrific, the atmospheric stuff, not so much. But a great little movie to watch when wide awake trying to finish a book.

I really want to take a nap. But I really have so much tv to watch I can't let it go. I was going to try and catch up on some movies Steevoh had for me, but just took them off the hard drive because I am never going to get to them and my attention span is only good enough for a movie apparantly at 3 a.m.

Dad and J and J went and saw Borat on Thursday. I was annoyed they didn't call me, but sitting and watching a couple of episodes of Da Ali G show with them later it was crystal clear I wouldn't have been comfortable sitting in a movie theater with them, laughing at my country men make complete boobs out of themselves. When I pointed out to J that the lady giving the demonstration about safe sex practices (and yes my grandfather was there too, which was odd to say the least watching an elderly woman put a condom on a big african american rubber phallus) was wearing I.U.D. earrings she got up and went to the kitchen to talk to my Mom. It was uncomfortable, but she asked what the "squiggles" were. Sure it was awkward, but I wasn't going to very well say "I don't know". I will wait until the movie airs on cable I suppose. HBO will have it in a month or so. I am patient. Besides its all been done before on the show.

If you know of any really great shopping deals that I need to know about, let me know because really truthfully, I am very uninspired this holiday season. I am always looking for a good pointer or ideas!
