I am making breaded chicken cutlets for lunch today. Yum. I wanted to make mashed potatoes and roasted garlic to go with the brisket that I made Saturday afternoon, but realized that I have no milk and no margarine in the house, so I will have to go to the grocery store here in a little bit.
Didn't go to the Purim carnivals yesterday like I joked that I wanted to. There are a couple of things that I distinctively remember from my synagouge's when I was growing up... the cotton candy machine, the chance to win goldfish and the spin art thing. And sure all three of those would have been great things to do but I am a little scared of what people would think of a nearly middle aged woman getting pysched at the spin art machine holding a goldfish in a plastic bag hopped up on cotton candy...without a child with her. So. Didn't go.
When I go to the grocery store I am picking up filling for hammentaschen. I am not working this week it seems so I am totally going to do some of the things that I said I wanted to. I absolutely refuse to sit on my duff and not be proactive about things. I just can't be that "glass is half empty" kind of person. I have a pantry full of things that I use in baking, so why let it just go bad... right? I have enough stuff to actually put together Mischloach Minot packages for the couple people I would have bought them for through the fundraiser that I missed... why not make that my goal for the week? Its all actually very encouraging to me. A dash of creativity in this drab and overcast day.
Tommorrow I call a couple other agencies to see about registration and then back on the hunt. Its a giagantor pain in the ass, but apparantly temp work is not my gig...lesson learned on that one!
ooo I think my lunch is ready...better go get the basil prepped.
