Its Primary day here in Coloradie. My precinct polling place is right across the parking lot from my house. These sweet retiries were in there this morning when I was there and just seemed so happy to be helping. I didn't vote for the Senate Primary. I am a big whuss. I dont' really know enough about the candidates to be honest and didn't want to vote based on who had the most signs and people rallying at University and First Avenue when I was driving home last night.
Also its Last Comic Standing Voting time. Thank dawg I don't have the conundrum that I did last year. I hated that Dat dude, and Ralphie May just pissed me off screaming about cheaper gas. This time... all three... its tough. And I don't have the energy to keep trying to dial into a busy signal. So I will wait and see who wins and hope it is the cute (and oh so tall) Jewish guy. He likes cookies alot and he is really really tall. That should get a couple points right? But then again Hefron was funny as hell and I was on the phone with a friend in Vegas during Alonzo whatshisface (is it Bohden? Who knowsun.) was doing his schtik. So I can't really make an educated choice.
Glad Denver will have circus' with animals and that the Initiative 100 is going to go down in a flaming ball of goo. I appreciate that kid who really went out there and rallied for her cause, that takes some cajones, but really... after my whole interaction a month or so ago with the Shriners and talked with the managing organizer of the parade (where there were alot of "exotic" animals) about the parades and the circuses that they have, in order to benefit their cause... helping CHILDREN...I have to say that the whole thing in my opinion was very misguided and probably really embraced by PE T ah... or dare I say even....sponsored (they say no, that it is all grass roots but I don't belive it for one minute). I admire their gumption though, I really do.
If you don't like the circus don't pay your money for a ticket or why not go and volunteer for the Humane Society. Volunteer to monitor the organization, spend your time and energies to develop a programe to hire a full time Humane Society watch dog (pardon the obvious pun). Every film set, television set, commercial set, model shoot if there is an animal has to have one... why not work on bettering the situation and not trying to outright ban the thing. That solves nothing, since the Event organizers will just go to the next town. And that doesn't solve the underlying problem this young lady got all upset and bothered about. I very much am in favor of the circus and am glad that they will be able to pitch their tents, have the elephant walk and bring their show to this town...I say bring it on: ringling brothers (bring on the blue team...when we were kids my brother and I took a weekend clown college class and learned about the blue team and the red team... our clown teacher guy was on the blue team), shriners (the link goes to a City and County of Denver City Council resolution HONORING the circus for their mission to raise money and provide healthcare for those in need), UniverSoul, and a couple of the others now too I hope. Some of the animals have a better life than some people I have known and are surviving better than if left in the wild. And yes there is the whole Roy and his white tiger debaucle I won't go there, but banning exotic animals from Denver is not worth the energy. But Pet(bl)a(h) will make their point out of it I am sure. (and I was once a card carrying member and they got out of control, with their tactics. I still am anti vivisection and always will be, but sometimes it can't be helped and for the betterment of curing cancer... I will let it be...which is hypocritical I know)... the "Got Beer?" college level campaign was completely misguided and made me realize what fanatics that they are. If you want to care about animals smooch the one sitting on your lap, laying at your feet, and if you don't have one, adopt from a shelter, take the neighbor's dog or cat for that matter out for a walk, volunteer at the local zoo... but don't waste everyone's time and energy on trying to ban "the circus" for fucksake.
:: jumping down now off the box, in order to watch the voting results and a rerun of South Park...or some such nonsence! ::
