Something to Celebrate...tis the season...

Thank you Starz Film Center for bringing some movies that I am interested in seeing. Maybe because I have been in this social and cultural rut for the last two years, I haven't had much of a desire to seek out schedules, but that being said, I am really digging what they are bringing.
Finally... the Future Is Unwritten is seeing the distribution channels to Colorado. I appreciate that Julian Temple has made the movie, but I don't know that having Anthony Kiedis talk about how Joe Strummer influenced him will be less than interesting to me, I don't know how authentic that conversation will be, interesting to see I guess. I fully anticipate sitting the backrow of the theater (I really like those seats in those teeny little basically screening room theaters at the Starz Film Center) completely rolling my eyes and thinking "shut up asshole". Maybe he will surprise me, both Julian and Swan. I doubt it. I write like I am bitter, I am not, I am actually really freakin' excited to see the movie. So this will be my 2:00 Saturday matinee I do believe. I would go and see it Friday but skipping out on a friend's birthday soiree would be rude and not understood at all. Or even showing up really late, wouldn't be acceptable or polite no matter how nice a present one brings. So Saturday at 2:00 it is.
Now if it was a single showing like The Gits I would have to forsake the sake' . This is another film I am not sure I should go to and not miss. I have acquaintenses who knew Mia Zappata either well or just as part of the music scene then, so I have known about this tragic story of her murder so seeing the whole circle might be interesting or really really sad.
I would like to see Across the Universe and it is showing at Neighborhood Flix (which I haven't been to yet) so that might be an option should I take a day off this week, like I want to. I mean even though I was home watching Woot all day I didn't mind not being here in the office, let me tell you I could definately take another one of those days (and I didn't come back to anything crazy, so really I didn't miss out on anything). Julie Tramor (oops Taymor) totally freaks my shit out visually. When we went to see the Lion King stage extravaganza I remember going HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME. Like I totally get her surreal bent and her requirement that you suspend any and all disbelief in what you are looking at and the parade into the theater made my cry (seriously). Seeing how she translates that felling to the screen with Beatles music is almost a bonus.
funny thing... Kiss Kiss Bang Bang by Specimen just popped up on my 1GB work MP3 player and I am really confused.. I do not at all remember synching on this little jump drive. I think it was hiding away, so amusing hello freakie little 80s dance song, you freaked me out just there. I don't know that my cubemate is as amused as I am. I thought seriously that it was all mellow Paris Under A Grove Trip Hop kind of things on there that I have on the background to ignore the "frog talker". Oops. And it came on loud. I am so glad that I was sitting here at my desk because otherwise everyone would have been p-o'ed at my lack of cubettiquete. And seriously just because I have to share something really funny... go and watch the video...they remind me of friends I had in the 80s. Yeeek. But so fun.
Maybe I do prefer being at work and not at home. At home I have to clean, be productive, be all domestic and here I watch music videos on the YouTubes, post to my blog and generally hang out. The work that I do have to do surely hasn't gotten in the way of my amusement today!
I need to stop mucking about and do my papershuffling dance.
