Bob Saget vs Bourdain... Bourdain wins in a landslide...forever and always but not for the reasons you might think

True dat... I got about four minutes into the Bob Saget stand up piece that I dvr'd on HBO and seriously not much of the funny. Just because he is saying fuck every two seconds doesn't make good standup or really even all that shocking. A whole piece about fucking and shit... just lame. Shame on HBO for spending the money to buy it. SHAME SHAME. Its like watching a drunk guy on speed. After 11 minutes I deleted it. And wanted to do it earlier but needed to give Herschel a cheesie poof because he was tortured by it too.

Switched to Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations - Cleveland on the dvr. I knew it would be good when I see the Pekar drawings opening the show (now I knew it would be good, I subscribe to Ruhlman's blog and saw the teaser). I have to say this is much better and maybe it will erase the misery of the 11 minutes too many that I spent with Bob Saget trying to destroy is image that made him a gabillionaire. A segment with Harvey Pekar beats him out over and over again without question the brilliance of this statement, " when you're dead it robs life of many pleasures" ...."yeah".

See the video tease here. And if you can appreciate the fact that Bourdain smiles...alot. Eats antique twinkie filling (so does Ruhlman) from an old standpipe and meets Toby. This show is so great. Read the blog of the show and try and catch it when it re-airs, share my joy please. And for the record... no profanity at the table.

I am absolutely flipped out that Marky Ramone (don't try and click through the links on the site for any of the extras since their meaning the Travel Channel's links are dead) shows up too. This absolutely kicks ass. Sure the bloggers/board posters are pissed that he isn't cranky and they opened with a topic that thinks that its the worst episode ever, but this I think it is all Bourdain and it (pardon MY profanity) fucking brilliant and like some of them think they couldn't be more wrong. AND HE COOKS and cassaulet (if you can get the recipie to load I will be impressed) to boot, on this episode and he seems to smile and really enjoy himself sincerely more than some places he has been too.

I love him for getting the previous 11 minutes out of my head. I was afraid it would be a pox on my soul. But now its only a distant memory and absolutely forgettable and I got to enjoy an hour of tv more than I anticipated when I started this entry.

And PS you know what I said about Bourdain not being enthusiastic? I take it all back tonite.
