Keeping up with the Steins not at all what it was billed and I am pleased

I mean sure I DVR'd it for The Piv. But Gary Marshall STEALS completely STEALS this movie. I have always had a little Jewie crush on Gary Marshall. I thought Gary Marshall and Walter Matthau would be my favorite crazy Uncles if they were truly my relatives (and apparently the Director of the movie, Scott Marshall, is a relative, lucky). Oh and Anthony Newley too. A nice little cameo by Adam Goldberg. "This guy has had too much caffiene"...Har.

The movie is billed as a one-upsmanship about Bar Mitzvahs in Brentwood,it really isn't at all. Its more a drama than a comedy and because I am a sentimental retard and cry at commercials (hey remember the issue I had with "the look the feel of cotton" commercials?) and I have completely cried more than once. It really is a statement about family, family relationships and learning some lovely lessons. It makes me miss my Grandma D a lot, she would have laughed at this movie and cried along with me. Richard Benjamin makes a great rabbai shilling his book to the Hebrew school class.

This was a nice little treat. Touching as hell. And completely wrongly billed. But I suppose its really hard to market a movie about becoming a family without it being about something completely else.

And I have a really good idea for a party with the family recipe buffet. Brilliant and touching and so sweet.
