The Discount Trifecta

I hit all the big three this morning. Went over to Wal-Mart this morning. Wow. Is it ok to say that there is a definate amusement and sence of sadness when I am walking the aisle and the guy with the serious rattail says to his son, "now you know what color black spray paint you want, but what color of black" and I think he was serious. I know in design there are shades and nuances to black, but I doubt that any shade of black at WalMart has any sence of those nuances. So sad. So funny. A lady was talking on her cell phone, she was talking all about her "money and shit" and then a kid ran by and bumped into her cart, she dropped her cell phone and candy fell out of it. She picked the "cell phone" up picked up the candy ate a peice and kept talking. One lady didn't look at anything but the ceiling until she stood right in front of a rack would look down really quickly and then move on looking up the whole time (her I really felt for) but her companion said "shirley, listen to me, I can't wait on you" and then walked off... Shirley just stood there because she didn't know where else to go. That was sad.

The little brownies out front screaming about buying Girl Scout cookies should be shot though. Rude. I bought cookies from two kids at work (well really their mom's who put the order sheet on their doors) don't yell at me about buying them from you.

I did though get the lamp. Less expensive than online even. Say what you will, but $21 bucks is pretty decent for a lamp regardless of who it knocks off. I am not completely sold on the brown lamp shade but that is peanuts compared to how much I do like the thing. If you go to the store and look for them, keep in mind that the lamp shade DOES come with it but on the shelf it might not be attatched so you will have to look for it.

Oh and don't bother asking for help because sadly no one really knows the stock very well. I learned that. NO one knew where the lamps even were. And since I only go in the store three times a year neither did I. But I was on a mission.

Went over to KMart since they are open 24 hours too. I discoved probably the funniest dishtowels ever. Now growing up in a family that owned and operated a meat packing plant I am always bemused by meat stickers, meat bandaids and meat cut anything, so seeing these towels seriously just about made my day. They are pretty big towels and would be perfect for covering the no knead bread on its final raise.

I also bought some other colorful and jaunty mid century-esque towels that will be great for general cleaning. Everything old is new again for sure.

KMart was less distracting with the crazy in it's clientele, but I was amazed at how Hispanic-centric the market / grocery was. It was really neat. And its alot closer than Avanza should I want to get any tamale fixin's (which is something I want to make), inexpensive chiles, cactus, anything Goya brand and Tamarid soda pop (which actually is delicious and harder to find on my side of town... so that was a super duper treat).

Target was just a bonanza of 70% off Valentines candy. Plain and simple. That is basically the best that I could do. I wanted to see about towels for the bathroom and a new shower curtain but very very uninspired. I have to find my Bed Bath and Beyond coupons so I can go and just buy the damn towels I want.
