So who says that the Fourth of July isn't wonderful? Ok no one ever really says that, I just wanted to point out my glorified optimism and all that. Siss boom bah... bring out the band.

I decided today since I had this lovely day off from work (which I celebrated a little bit inside about, since less than six months ago I was freaking out about not having one) and realizing that on Saturday I was sitting on my couch not only feeling more than guilty that I was watching Steevoh induced joy, but not doing "anything" and got really antsy. Like in January when I was freaking out about not having a good job or any job for that matter and shuffling from interview to interview.

Then I start reading Bitter is the New Black and realize, yup, I had it pretty damn good. I know Jen Lancaster (the author) got the book deal from ... her blog... and was prepared for a little self indulgent business. I have to admit, I bought the book while I was unemployed and said that I wouldn't read it until I was employed so now seems like the perfect time. I have about 50 pages to go to finish and while the bulk of the book is kinda funny, there is a tone of sarcasm and serious self deprecating humour... I have to say... the footnotes? Absolutely funny as hell. NO one has used footnotes to such amusement to me in a long time (forgoing my failed attempt-s- to read David Foster Wallace). Well done.

And don't worry SFAM I will send you the book. I will put it in the box on Tuesday with the BEST SANDWHICH BAGS EVAH (tm).

While the sororiety girls (ok just a friend of one of the girls that lives) upstairs are finding something really extremely scarey or just like screaming like they are trying to peel the paint off the walls, (they have been screaming bloody hell on and off for the last 45 minutes... quite sure they are watching a movie, it should be over soon and besides Crazy Neighbor D is going to walk over and verbally lay into them I am sure, she already did it to the new guy across the hall last night...) I am going to try and wrap this mother up, finish the book and try to get to sleep before 1:00 a.m. I mean it is a "school night" after all. I really need to stop drinking coffee (no matter how good it is) after 9 p.m. I suffer for it and can't sleep.

Must finish book, must get fans going to try and cool the house down and set the alarm to wake me up in the morning (or I may not have a job to celebrate having!)

Happy belated Independence Day... hope you celebrated the best that you could! Posted by Picasa
