I forgot how incredibly silly some 80s movies really are. Well. I apparantly asked Steevoh to record Flashdance a couple of nights ago. Now... that being said, when the movie came out I thought it is just about a Steel Town Girl on a Saturday Night... now really I didn't, it kinda made me want to do the little dance her double does, near the beginning...and I knew why she taped up her feet, but dancing like that with taped up feet and leg warmers over the balls of her feet while very stylish, very very slippery and dangerous as hell, so in dance class never actually pulled that act.
Ok so my point.
I am watching Flashdance, all in it's 1980s brilliance and the fashions ... not too unlike what is being sold right now. Frightening. Which has nothing at all to actually do with anything Esterhas intended I am sure when he wrote the thing from a story from some other guy, but someone on board was thinkin... remember what an impact that had... come on you know you probably showed up to a bbyo dance on a Saturday night or two wearing a headband and cut up sweatshirt...girls admit it....
Remember how hot that soundtrack was? That I think is the only thing in the movie that doesn't translate well.
But possibly and honestly the best part that I completely and totally forgot about Flashdance...Lee Ving! That was brilliant then and brilliant casting still to this day. I want more Lee Ving. Thats the kind of music that makes me happy, not Laura Branigan (rest her soul).

back in the 80's, hanging out at the 'punk' (gay cabaret) club with my boyfriend's band opening for FEAR, i met lee ving backstage and asked for his autograph in my little 'trip' book. he wrote "DIE SLOW"...
