Its a little girlie girlie...

Yes. Went shopping today for a dress for the reception party thing in July. What is the dress code actually? Apparantly to all the stores in the Denver Metro area it would be floral patterned dresses with underskirtie things that no self respecting 12 year old would wear, much less me. So frustrating.

Another thing that is frustrating... let me give you the word up here folks.... walking through Nordstrom, being thrilled nearly out of my gourd that they carry Smashbox (I loves the products by those Factor boys, ever since buying it in LA I have been hooked).

So beyond happy because I was about to have to call my friend Jim call his girlfriend and tell her they are making a stop at Sephora while they are in Vegas this weekend (and if they get married ... I have said this before.... without me there... I am going to kick some major bootie...they won't but its always fun to pretend they would be that impetuous). And what is really funny about 4 o'clock Vegas time, they called me from Sephora to see if I wanted anything. I explained my excitement about Nordstrom and they asked if I was sure. I said just buy me something fabulous (T has great taste) under 50 bucks and I will pay them back.

Now I know for a fact that T would be going there, I just didn't expect a phone call from the middle of the store. (C took her which is really amusing as hell, since he isn't the kind of guy that would ever be caught dead in Sephora...I bet he went and played blackjack or something....oooo maybe went to Madame Toussoud's... it is right upstairs... now that would be fun), again, I digress.... we had a very lengthy discussion about the lurve that is Sephora and I made my peice that I wasn't going to financially be able to go (and yes they asked). But I digress (again).

So I am at the Nordstrom (which I like) and loving the fact I can get my "artificial light" in "glaze" and be on my merry way. Oh no. I am stopped every two feet by ladies asking if I needed any help. Nope. I know what I want. I can help you. Nope I see what I want. Can I get it for you. Nope I can do that on my own. Next "counter area" same dang thing. I was about to loose my nut but then realized dang... that could be me in about a month if I don't get a real job! So I got sugarie sweet and bought my makeup (I also got some highlighter creme and a lipstick... I can't not have a new lipstick, hell I felt guilty for being a little standoffish not two minutes earlier).

Crap its 8... I have to get outta here....

Anyways... I am beyond frustrated by the dresses out there. I must have gone to 20 different stores today and each dress I looked at looked like some version of FTD upchuck. Florals everywhere. I am a tailored dressy dressy girl. Where are the fine little dresses maybe with the little bow? I could deal with the empire waist bow even... nope. Botanical upchuck. So frustrating.

Is it just me or am I missing the point that designers want everyone to look like they just walked out of a garden?

I stayed away from Neiman's though today. They have a Prada dress in their cataloge that I totally love. But honey... 800 bucks for a dress for my brother's wedding reception... I think not. So not. Snot. No way. There has to be someone out there knocking it off. Damn I miss Fashion Bar and Joslin's. They had THE BEST dress buyers. Fashion Bar for sure did. I knew them. A moment of silence for Fashion Bar.

Off to MAC. I am out of eyeliner, well the eyeliner I like the most.

Oh and thank you HBO for starting Six Feet Under again. Sad as this may be... I was getting a little tired of Se* and the City.
